Why Cling to Jesus

…AT THE END OF THE AGE

29 Biblical reasons to hold fast to our Head Jesus as we look forward to His soon return.

  1. BECAUSE OF JESUS….WE HAVE HOPE! And it is ONLY IN JESUS that we HAVE HOPE – (he made the gospel possible)
Colossians 1:5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel

Hebrews 6:17–19 In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,

2. HE RESCUED US!
Colossians 1:13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

3. He RECONCILED me!
Colossians 1:22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—

4. HIS WORK IN ME GIVE ME HOPE FOR FUTURE GLORY!
Colossians 1:27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Glory speaks of resplendence – it is an exciting future – a bright future – this world is getting darker, drearier. We were not meant for that existence. Heaven because Jesus will be there will be gloriously beautiful.

5. I CAN WORK BECAUSE OF HIS POWER AT WORK IN ME!
Colossians 1:29 For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. (TO WORK is how we are wired–to accomplish things – to think big thoughts, to plan, to execute and to see the fruit of our labor. Our labor is not in vain if it is empowered by the work of Christ in me via the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might

6. BECAUSE JESUS IS COMPLETELY GOD I AM MADE COMPLETE TOO!
Colossians 2:9–10 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
7. IN HIM I AM FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED!
Colossians 2:11–12 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

8. I WHO WAS DEAD HAVE BEEN MADE ALIVE IN JESUS
Colossians 2:13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

9. HE PAID OFF MY DEBT
Colossians 2:14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

10. HE NOT ONLY DEFEATED SIN AND ITS HOLD, BUT JESUS HUMILIATED MY REAL ENEMY!
Colossians 2:15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

11. JESUS IS MY VERY LIFE AND MY LIGHT!
Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. JOHN 14:6 ..I AM THE LIFE! JOHN 1 HIS LIFE WAS THE LIGHT OF MAN.
John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

12. His PEACE CAN RULE IN MY HEART! Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. COL. 3:15

13. HIS WORD RICHLY LIVES IN ME–SO MUCH SO IT MAKES ME SING!
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

14. JESUS IS THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY AND WAS PROVEN SO when HE WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD!
Romans 1:2–4 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

15. JESUS GIVES ME ULTIMATE MEANING AND I AM UNASHAMED OF HIS GOSPEL’S BECAUSE IT IS POWERFUL UNTO SALVATION! For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. ROMANS 1:16 (THE GOSPEL GIVES ME A PURPOSE FOR BREATHING. THAT PURPOSE HAS TRANSFORMED THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE FROM EVERY NATION.)

16. IN JESUS’ GOSPEL I DON’T EVER HAVE TO RELY ON MY RIGHTEOUSNESS BUT ON THE RIGHTEOUS THAT IS ONLY GRANTED AS A RESULT OF MY FAITH THROUH HIS GRACE
Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

17. IN JESUS GOSPEL I AM DULY WARNED ABOUT REFUSING THE TRUTH. Romans 1:18 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

18. BECAUSE OF JESUS’ GOSPEL ALL OF CREATION MAKES SENSE TO ME.
Romans 1:19–20 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

19. BECAUSE OF JESUS’ GOSPEL ALL OF MAN’S WICKEDNESS ALSO MAKES SENSE
Romans 1:21–32 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

20. BECAUSE OF JESUS’ GOSPEL I LIKEWISE UNDERSTAND THAT ALL ARE SINNERS, EVEN THOSE WHO APPEAR TO BE MORAL, RELIGIOUS, OR SPIRITUAL. (even those who look good)

Romans 2:1–3 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Romans 3:10–12 as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; 11 There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; 12 All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”

21. BECAUSE OF JESUS’ GOSPEL I CAN BE JUSTIFIED BY SIMPLE FAITH IN HIM.
Romans 4:5–8But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven,And whose sins have been covered.8“Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”
Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, bwe have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

22. BECAUSE JESUS IS STILL WORKING HIS CHARACTER INTO MINE AND CHANGING ME THROUGH TRIALS!
Romans 5:3–5 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

23. BECAUSE JESUS SHOWED ME HOW MUCH HE LOVED BY DYING FOR ME WHEN I WAS OPPOSED IN EVERYWAY TO HIM!

Romans 5:6–8 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

24. BECAUSE JESUS HAS SET ME FREE FROM SIN AND MY OLD SELF
Romans 7:24–25 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

Galatians 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. John 8:31–32 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” Romans 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

25. JESUS PRAYS FOR ME!
Hebrews 7:25–27Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. Romans 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

26. JESUS IS THE LOVE I NEED AND NO ONE CAN GET IN BETWEEN HIS LOVE AND ME!
Romans 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword. Romans 8:37–39 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

27. JESUS PROMISED JUSTICE FOR THE WICKED AND SALVATION FOR HIS PEOPLE – HE WILL SET ALL THINGS RIGHT!
2 Thessalonians 1:6–8For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:1–11 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; 6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

28. JESUS HAS A PLACE FOR ME!
John 14:1–6 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.4 “And you know the way where I am going.”5 Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Luke 23:42–43 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Revelation 2:7 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.’

29. BECAUSE I HAVE JESUS MY ETERNAL FUTURE IS BRIGHT
Revelation 21:1–7 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

WHAT IS REVELATION ABOUT? REV 1:1 THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST. CLING TO HIM!
